Three facts that equal case closed.

As of 2010, the population of Hutchinson was 42,080.  It's, likely, increased a little since then.

In the television series, Smallville's population is 45,001.

In the graphic novel, "The Kents", Smallville was located on the Arkansas River.

There are five towns in Kansas, that sit on this river, with a population over 20,000.

In this panel, from Action Comics #822, Lois and Clark are driving to Smallville, from Metropolis.

Out of the five towns, that sit on the Arkansas River, Hutchinson is the closest in population and almost an exact match in mileage from Salina, Kansas.

These facts lead to one conclusion:  There is only one place in Kansas that has substantial comparisons like these.

Hutchinson, Kansas

IS

Smallville, Kansas

And...if that's not enough...

The WALL OF WEIRD

The Talon's address, in the television series, is 220 Main Street.

650 feet under our town, is the deepest museum in the Western Hemisphere, The Kansas Underground Salt Museum.

Salt is a mineral that is deadly to plants.

White Kryptonite is harmless to Superman and humans, but kills plant life.

Kryptonite is everywhere under Smallville.  Luckily, it's the kind that doesn't hurt Clark.

This underground museum is home to a vast collection of memorabilia from movies and television, including:

The SUPERMAN costume from the television series, "Lois and Clark".

A miniature of the DAILY PLANET, from "Superman Returns".

Salt/White KRYPTONITE, to take home, from the REAL Smallville, Kansas.

In the television series, Clark's spaceship was stored in the cellar, on the Kent farm.

Clark arrived in Kansas, after a journey through space, to save him from a distant planet.  Kara (Supergirl) also used a spaceship to arrive in Smallville.

Hutchinson is home to a perfect place to store their spacecrafts, in The Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center.  This museum contains one of the largest collections of artifacts from space, including METEOR ROCKS.

In 2013, The Kansas State Fair will celebrate it's 100th Birthday.

In season seven, of Smallville, they celebrated the 100th Annual

Harvest Festival.
